This position will be part of the Enterprise Services team, which delivers a full suite of services to state agencies, boards, councils, and commissions, and many central services to local government partners.
The Data Systems Recovery Architect serves as the enterprise leader in designing, implementing, and advancing MNIT's backup and disaster recovery architecture. This position provides vision and technical expertise across infrastructure services, with a focus on system design, management, performance optimization, and engineering documentation for statewide backup environments. Working closely with the Distributed Hybrid Infrastructure Services (DHIS) division, the architect plays a key role in modernizing enterprise services through the adoption of upgraded tools, automation, and best practices aligned with current industry and security standards.
As MNIT's lead subject matter expert in data systems recovery, this role is responsible for developing enterprise standards, processes, and solutions that strengthen resiliency and continuity of services. The position integrates technology, people, and complex processes to deliver reliable enterprise and shared services that meet diverse agency needs. The architect also provides guidance on technology advancements and regulatory changes, ensuring that MNIT's disaster recovery and backup environments remain secure, efficient, and future-ready.
This is a Remote Worker position ( , where the employees home address shall serve as their official work location and must be located within the continental United States. Remote work is a condition of employment.

Position requires a minimum of six (6) years of related experience in systems or network design.
Experience must include:
Knowledge of architect standards and conventions such as TOGAF, ISO/IEC, Zachman, Federal Enterprise Architecture, etc.
Experience architecting and implementing Commvault Hybrid Cloud Environments, including backup and disaster recovery solutions.
Experience architecting and implementing Commvault in Azure Commercial, Azure Government, Azure Local, Oracle, and AWS cloud environments.
Experience applying CJIS, HIPAA, and IRS Pub 1075 compliance framework in hybrid cloud environments.
Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
A master's degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor's degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate's degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications
Lead work or supervisory experience.
Commvault Professional Certification.
Six (6)+ years architecting and implementing Commvault Ransomware/Disaster Recovery services, architecture, and implementation in hybrid cloud environments.
Experience architecting and implementing Commvault data systems recovery solutions for Salesforce and GitHub.
Experience with specification, site surveying, and installation of complex backup systems.
Experience using data modeling tools to analyze sources and design enterprise backup strategies.
Knowledge of project management principles and practices to plan, direct, and evaluate work.
Experience documenting total cost of ownership and preparing hybrid cloud backup audit documentation.
